A Night to Remember 2017

"A Fantastic evening" was just one of many positive comments I heard at the 3rd Annual "A Night to Remember" sponsored by the Manson Chamber of Commerce. Besides enjoying a wonderful dinner and having a ton of fun the main purpose of the event is to recognize and honor individuals and organizations that have made a huge difference in our community.

The Crosswinds Restaurant, at Mill Bay Casino, was the perfect venue for this event, we thank Tom Fitzpatrick and his great crew for making the night so special. The wait staff was attentive to our needs and the chef provided an amazing choice of prime rib or salmon for the main course.

People started arriving at 6:00 and were greeted by our "check in team" consisting of Sandy Day, Leslie Guimond, Kathy Stocker and Tiffany Schnelle. Individuals received a packet that included a name tag, a number to use for bidding on the many silent auction items and a table assignment. The room was filled with over 100 guests. Prior to dinner Master of Ceremonies Jeff Conwell welcomed everyone and directed their attention to the auction tables with 50 amazing gifts they could bid on. It was hard not to take a look at the dessert table full of culinary delights then try to figure out which one they hoped to secure during the "Dessert Dash." Of course folks caught up with old friends and made new ones.

The award presentations followed dinner, with a total of eight awards presented by the Manson School District, the Manson Kiwanis and the Manson Chamber of Commerce.

Matt Charlton representing the Manson School District helped present Kayla Helleson with Teacher of the Year, Analexis Manjares with Student of the Year (accepting on her behalf is Kelly Kronbauer) and Maria Verduzco was honored as Classified Employee of the Year. Lynda Cotter representing the Manson Kiwanis Club presented Norm Manly with the Citizen of the Year.

Jeff Conwell presented Ron Trickett with Volunteer of the Year, Kelsey Harding-Chavez received the Most Inspirational of the Year, Rootwood Cider Business of the Year and Manson Kiwanis Club with Special Recognition for all they do in our community.

It was time for dessert and the "Dessert Dash" that was developed by Phyllis Coleman, Dessert Dash Committee Chair Judy Dai. Every table collected money, which was placed into an envelope. The table with the highest dollar amount was first to run for the dessert they wanted. Every ten seconds another table was notified and the dash for a dessert was in full swing. It was a lot of fun and managed to raise close to $2,000!

Before the night ended the individual with highest bid for each auction item picked up and paid for their prize. The auction brought in $3,164.00, we thank all the businesses that provided prizes for the auction. In total the Chamber raised close to $6,000, those monies will be used to help promote our special community to the world.

I night like this is a huge undertaking and "A Night to Remember" was successfully and professionally put together with only volunteers, we thank each and every one. Board President Judy Dai said, "I couldn't be more proud! It was an amazing night."
